Andres Carrano joined the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering in 2000. His teaching interests are in the area of manufacturing systems, production control, warehousing and material handling. His current research interests are in design methodologies for sustainable product development and materials substitution in design for the environment.
Andres is a senior member of both SME and IIE, and a regular member of ASEE. He also supervises the Toyota Production Systems Lab, is a member of the Laboratory for Environmental Computing and Decision Making (LECDM), is an academic member of the College-Industry Council on Material Handling Education (MHIA-CICMHE), and co-advises the Engineers for a Sustainable World ESW student chapter at RIT. His work has been funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S Department of Agriculture (USDA).
