Annual TPHS Summer Picnic

Havilands' , 17 ½ Ontario Street
Honeoye Falls
1 p.m.
Questions?    Call 585-288-6359

Dick and Joan Haviland have kindly offered to host our picnic again this summer at the Old Sawmill, the scenic site of Film For Classics, near the Honeoye Falls. Come at 1 pm for fun, conversation and photos.

We'll eat around 3:30 p.m. Pulled pork and buns, fixings, paper goods and beverages will be provided by TPHS. Please bring a dish to pass, a lawn chair to sit on and some stories to share. Show 'n' Tells are welcome.

Take photos of the Falls with your favorite camera (vintage, digital or whatever) for an impromptu unlabeled photo exhibit sometime this fall. Please RSVP Sharon Bloemendaal at 585-288-6359 by Aug. 9 so we'll know what we need.

Directions: Take Clover St. (Rt. 65) south toward Honeoye Falls. In the center of the village turn left just below the Falls, and take your first right (still on Rt. 65) to 17 1/2 Ontario St. (see map on page 36 of the Rochester phone book yellow pages) NOTE: There is little parking near the sawmill; park on the street or on nearby lots.

This painting by a local watercolor artist shows the Havilands' home as it looks from across the Honeoye Falls. It's quite accurate.

SEPTEMBER SPEAKER IS WWII AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHER

Don McDill, a WWII aerial photographer in the Navy, will speak on Sept. 21. He mapped the planned invasion of Japan. He also spent 31 years working in photo-illustration for Kodak. Bring your aerial cameras with you!

NOVEMBER (date TBA): PLEASE DROP IN

Martin Scott and Mike Champlin are leading the November meeting, which focuses on Drop-in cartridges, particularly 126 cameras. Bring cameras, advertising, Kodak workers who worked on these cameras, and see the 1963 Buster Keaton film, The Triumph of Lester Snapwell, a Kodak promotional film announcing the then-new Kodapak Film cartridges and Instamatic Camera.

NOTE: This meeting won't be limited to Kodak or even to 126 cartridge cameras. Any drop-in film designs are welcome.
