An Evening with Earl Kage

This Thursday October 18, at Barnes & Noble Books in Pittsford Plaza (the old Forman's) on 3349 Monroe Ave. just east of Wegmans. We will be in the upstairs Community Room. The Public is Welcome.

For many years Earl Kage was the head of the Professional Studio at Kodak Research Laboratories and before that served as assistant to the head. He has many memories of working on interesting projects, including experimental color processes and new motion picture films. He also taught color portraiture to Yousuf Karsh and worked with many other famous photographers.

Martin L. Scott will conduct the interview and questions will be taken from the audience.

The Society is pleased to be hosting this event, bringing living photohistory for all to enjoy.

Visual presentations and video recording of this event by Mike Champlin.

Meeting Notes by Sharon Bloemendaal

Nov. 15 Meeting - The Winpro Camera Story
What camera was made in Webster, NY from 1947-1955 and was NOT part of Kodak?

TPHS Treasurer Frank Calandra will share his research on the little camera made by Webster Industries, an enterprise created by James P. Wilmot, Claude Wright, & James Morrisey, who later teamed to form Wilmorite. Chief engineer Julius Henne came from Kodak, and later went back to EKC after securing several patents for the Winpro.

Winpro was the first injection molded plastic 35 mm camera. If you know anyone who worked at Winpro please invite them. Bring your own Winpros and ephemera and help add to the the knowledge base. Jane Henne, who met her future husband Julius when she worked there, has been invited, as has Lorrie Wright Jones, daughter of Winpro founder Claude Wright.
