The Zutes Faculty Fellowship

Dean C. Zutes, a prominant Rochester businessman, was an immigrant from Greece. An entrepreneur, he started a wholesale candy and tobacco business with his brother, which they managed into a very successful business. Mr. Zutes continued to manage the business into his 80s, passing away in November, 2001, at the age of 88.

Mr. Zutes left the Saunders College of Business a large endowment. Dean Thomas Hopkins, in consultation with the faculty, used the fund to establish a program that would make the Zutes name forever synonymous with excellence in scholarship: the Zutes Faculty Fellowship. The Zutes Atrium was also named in honor of Mr. Zutes.

In 2005, the first three Zutes Faculty Fellows were named:

Dr. Richard DeMartino, Dr. Khondkar Karim, and Dr. Qiang (John) Tu.

In 2007, two more Zutes Faculty Fellows were named:

Dr. Chun-Keung (Stan) Hoi and Dr. Clyde Hull.
