Criteria for Admission
- The Masters of Science for Teachers in
Visual Arts is offered to candidates who are holders of BFA,
BA or BS degrees (with a minimum of 36 semester credits in art).
Candidates should be well versed in studio production, art history,
and aesthetics and art criticism. Candidates must have in-depth
knowledge of the subject matter that they plan to teach as described
in professional, state, and institutional standards. Candidates
must submit a digital portfolio representing their studio practice (20-30 high quality images),
an essay reflecting on becoming an art educator and a complete
graduate application form.
- After students complete and submit the material, the application
review process and adjudication takes place.
- The program Director meets with a majority of students who
are interested in enrolling into the program prior to their submission
to give feedback and guidance on such things as standards, expectations
and criteria for admission. Portfolio reviews are conducted at
any time.
