Information Technology and Disabilities

Guidelines for Authors

Information Technology and Disabilities is an electronic journal intended for a professional audience in all areas of information technology, including elementary and college education; educational computing; job accomodation; software and hardware development; as well as non-profit and for-profit organizations whose missions relate to information technology and accessibility.

While our audience is comprised largely of professionals, authors should be aware of the need to provide sufficient background information for readers with little or no experience in or knowledge of this field. In addition, authors should strive to present material in an objective, formal tone, avoiding the use of first-person references wherever possible.

Length
Articles submitted for consideration should be a minimum of 5 double-spaced, typewritten pages. While there is no formal upper limit in terms of length, it is expected that the majority of articles included will be under 25 pages, including references.

Style
Authors should use the American Psychological Association [APA] style for citations. In addition, all notes and references should be placed at the end of the article - no footnotes. Titles of articles should be in all capital letters; the author's email address should be in parentheses following the author's name; the author's title and institutional affiliation should appear on the lines immediately below the author's name. An abstract is not required, but may be included if desired. Section headings should be in all capital letters; sub-section headings should be bold.

Graphics and Illustrations
Graphics and illustrations should be provided as separate files in either JPEG (.jpg) or GIF (.gif) format. Other formats will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The location and filename of each graphic/illustration should be clearly indicated within the body of the text.

Submission
Articles may be submitted electronically or in hard copy to the editors. HTML or PC-compatible formats are preferred.
