Research Technician position available immediately. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a BS or MS degree and a solid background in microbiology/virology/biochemistry/or genetics. Laboratory experience is required.
Responsibilities include performing experiments as well as some routine laboratory maintenance. After a training period, supervised experiments will be assigned, followed later by more independent research. Research involves PCR, DNA and RNA isolation and manipulation, animal cell culture, cloning and sequencing, etc.
Our lab studies the biology and pathology of a group of large DNA viruses, the baculoviruses. These viruses infect only insects, and are widely used for protein expression and as biocontrol agents. Our research includes studies of virus entry and exit from host cells, and the regulation of viral gene expression. Position funded by NIH and USDA grants.
