November 15, 2009

New track has been installed in West Upton, the caboose is in the process of being repainted to match the newly painted engines, and unit 1750 has been seen switching cars (YouTube Video)

October 4, 2009

The GP9 is painted black with yellow stripes. The CF7 is now undergoing similar sanding and repainting. Extensive work has been done through Milford and Hopedale to clear the tracks of brush, trees and other encroachments. Picture* Picture Picture

September 1, 2009

The GP9 (former Bay Colony 1702) is sanded down to reveal its original Pennsylvania Logo and numbers before being repainted in new Grafton & Upton Colors.
Tie replacement and other track maintenance is still in progress through Grafton.

Ballast regulation and ditch work reaches the N.Grafton yard. Ties still need to be replaced through Grafton. In Upton, the yard's switches and track are replaced with fresh ties. Pictures Pictures

May 26, 2009

Track is removed from entrance of Upton yard for a rumored switch. A mound of dirt is built and seeded between the construction area and the Upton yard in what appears to be a response to dust complaints. Also, the base of operation appears to have moved to Grafton Center (near Cumberland Farms). Track work continues from here. Pictures

May 5, 2009

All trees have been cleared from the Milford Jct. (Picture) to Route 140 (Picture). Oldest tree counted at 40 years old. Ballast Regulator reached Grafton Center. Ties removed up to Old Upton Road. Ties replaced past Williams St.

April 16, 2009

The two condemned houses adjacent to the West Upton yard are demolished along with the old French door building.

April 7, 2009

Brush cutting begins south of the Hopedale yard through Milford.

April 6, 2009

Tie Replacement Begins. Begins in Upton moving towards Grafton.

March 25, 2009

The hopper car unloading "tunnel" at West Upton is filled in. Any future salt customer will need to find a new way to unload. In Hopedale, a large "gravel-like" pile has appeared, potentially for ballast use. Tie replacement is slated to begin in the upcoming weeks.

March 23, 2009

The G&U begins receiving telephone utility poles in North Grafton and ships them to West Upton via truck. Shipments have been arriving on a weekly basis since.

March 17, 2009

All available land at the North Grafton depot is cleared of trees. Picture Picture

Febuary 2009 - March 2009

Excavation at the G&U West Foundry (Wickes Lumber) continues as the material removed from inside the building is processed. The remnants from the torn up yard (track and ties) are also separated and removed.
