2005-present

Nanette’s responsibilities with the Imaging and Photographic Technology department of the College of Imaging Arts and Sciences include lecturing and conducting laboratories in the Materials and Processes of Photography course. The Materials and Processes class covers topics such as density, photometry, exposure meters, camera optics including basic lens design, depth of field and perspective, color vision, color ordering systems, color management, additive and subtractive color mixing, and both film and digital tone reproduction. Nanette lectures to approximately 200 students per week in this course. Nanette also provides academic advising to a number of students within her department.

Rochester Institute of Technology

Adjunct Faculty
2004-2005

Nanette responsibilities with the Imaging and Photographic Technology department of the College of Imaging Arts and Sciences include lecturing and conducting laboratories in the Materials and Processes of Photography course.  Nanette lectures to approximately 175 students per week in this course.

Imagery Solutions, Incorporated

Senior Scientist
2000-present

As a co-owner of Imagery Solutions, Incorporated, a small scientific imaging consulting company, Nanette is currently involved in a diverse set of imaging related projects. These pursuits included research and development in the areas of psychovisual experiments for automated image processing algorithms to produced optimized visual data for analysts and observers, modulation transfer function correction, tone transfer curve development, and automated dynamic range adjustment. A large part of Nanette's time is directed at her career long involvement with the National Imagery Interpretation Rating Scale (NIIRS) creation and the continued development of image quality equations for newly deployed and proposed imaging systems. In addition to the development of image quality scales, Nanette utilizes her knowledge of the complex interactions along the image chain to produce image simulations incorporating phenomenology known to affect image quality and the success of exploitation algorithms.

Nanette's other responsibilities at Imagery Solutions have included project oversite and technical development of a Web-based access solution to a customer's imagery distribution database. This solution included development utilizing Microsoft SQL Server, Java Servlets, and JavaScript. In addition, Nanette will utilize her knowledge of National Technical Means and their utility to assist in the development of appropriate data visualization tools and an automated processing environment.

Nanette has mentored many junior scientists, engineers, and technicians in the companies at which she is currently consulting, assisting them in the technical understanding of the historic nature of image quality metrics development as well as numerous imaging systems and architectures.

Veridian/MRJ Technology Solutions

Senior Engineer
2000

Nanette's responsibilities at MRJ were to develop a database to organize and manage her customer’s vast data holdings. This involved utilizing mySQL, Java and Java Servlets to create a web based query and access system.

Litton/TASC

Senior Member of the Technical Staff
1996-2000

Nanette's responsibilities included the development of a commercial website for TASC’s new CommAssure product line. This involved the development and integration of databases with Cold Fusion to create the website and to track sales internally. Nanette was previously involved in the development of an e-commerce solution to sell TASC Emerge imagery over the Internet. This involved the development and integration of imagery database concepts using Oracle and Cold Fusion as well as the authoring of all Web interface documents. Nanette has recently served as a team leader on the development of the NIMA Integrated Road Map (IRM) that is a Web-based application for the tracking and management planning of NIMA resources and projects. She has extensive customer interface experience and serves as the primary point of contact on all projects in which she is involved.

Hughes Aircraft Company

Scientist/Engineer
1994-1996

Nanette was responsible for establishing calibration guidelines for color/monochrome image display devices. She served as Webmaster for the NEL Imagery Analysis Division (IAD) and was responsible for the design and implementation of Web documents for the IAD's home page. This task included developing methodologies for the conversion of hardcopy documents to softcopy without significant loss in image quality. Her duties included project management and training on the above-mentioned tasks.

Eastman Kodak Company

Algorithm Developer/Systems Engineer
1987-1994

As an algorithm Developer for the Consumer Imaging Division Nanette was responsible for the development and evaluation of neutral and color balance models for commercial products such as PhotoCD and Kodak’s CLAS35 printers. Nanette was also involved with image simulations for Kodak’s Advantix system. Her duties included management of a small team of technicians that maintained the in-house testing and development image databases, and the coordination of both general and specialized data collections that supported the needs of software and algorithm developers.

As a Systems Engineer for the Federal Systems Division Nanette was responsible for the evaluation of image quality and the effects impacted by modifications in components of the overall imaging process. She was also tasked with establishing and maintaining good working relationships with contractors by initiation of regular working/informational meetings as well as providing consulting advice on statistical analysis of data for system analysts.

Central Intelligence Agency

Photographic Engineer
1985

Nanette served as a production engineer with interface responsibilities to image analysts. She was also responsible for the maintenance and quality control of several color and black-and-white photographic processors. Nanette also gained extensive experience in the printing of color and black-and-white photography on a large variety of specialized printers. She also performed a great deal of studio photography for the presentation of models in a catalog format.

RELATED EXPERIENCE

Nanette has extensive experience in HTML authoring, Flash programming, IDL programming, Perl scripting, Cold Fusion, JavaScript, Java, Servlets, and Web site design. She also has experience in the integration of Oracle, Sybase, mySQL, and Microsoft SQL Server databases into Web-based applications and the configuration and operation of Web servers under the Unix and Windows NT operating systems. Nanette also has experience with optics and optical systems analysis from the geometric, physical and linear systems approaches. This experience resides in the laboratory context as well as simulation approaches with digital image processing techniques. Nanette is experienced in digital techniques for the enhancement and extraction of information from digital imagery.
