I am presently a professor in the Imaging and Photographic Technology Dept. which belongs to the School of Photographic Arts and Sciences at the Rochester Institute of Technology. I have teaching here full-time since August 1993.

I teach courses in Digital Image Processing, Electronic Sensitometry and Color Management in addition to foundation courses in computers and imaging. You can find details about my courses by clicking here.

I have been involved in corporate training for 17+ years and offer seminars both at RIT and custom ones at Corporate sites. I have taught extensively to engineers, sales and marketing people at companies like Kodak, Fuji, Motorola, HP, GE Aerospace, VLSI design to name a few. My background is in Photography, Imaging Science and Computer Science. I have been associated with Photography since my early childhood. My family (great grand-father really) pioneered the motion picture industry in India during the "slient film era". Family businesses have included a motion picture processing lab., a movie preview theater and a Photo Processing Lab. After my undergraduate degree in Physics & Chemistry, I worked as an assitant to an Advertising photographer for approximately 2 years. I came to the US in 1982 and studied fine art Photography at Ohio Univeristy in Athens, OH. I came to RIT in 1983 and obtained a Masters degree in Imaging and Photographic Science. Subsequently, I also took numerous graduate courses in Computer Science.

I worked as an imaging engineer at a nuclear fusion facility - Lab. for Laser Energetics for 11 years where I designed an build imaging systems to control and characterize lasers. I have also worked as a strategic consultant/embedded imaging engineer for Questra Corporation.


I also spent approx. 1.5 years as an imaging/color scientist at HP labs. in Palo Alto, CA
