The
Course
The course will establish the basic design features and calculation for aircraft structures.
It starts with information from Mechanics and incorporates particular
information from theory of elasticity as it applies to stressed shell
sturctures. The important load is from the component
aerodynamic behaviour. We look at trusses, beams, plates and
shells.
Currently it is unlikely that real aircraft structural design is possible without recourse to structural element software.
In this course COMSOL software will form an important part of analysis
The course requires the completeion of an open ended project.
