This is me at the throttle of Valley Railroad number 40 (2-8-2)
I am a professor in Mechanical Engineering Technology at RIT. I teach courses related to power and energy such as thermodynamics, heat transfer, thermo lab and air conditioning. I do a fair amount of energy testing and consulting. Currently I am part of a group of engineers under contract to NYSERDA to to technical assistance studies for regional industry.
This is an image I shot in China. It shows double headed QJ-type engines at Galadesitai on the JiTong line (Inner Mongolia Ry). Note that the semaphore signals are hand thrown and are brand new! This railroad opened in 1995 with 100 percent steam power.
