Official Release of Back to Karkand - 12
Back to Karkand is now available to everybody! The four maps included are classics in the Battlefield franchise, reimagined on the new engine. On top of that, there will be a handful of new vehicles (a hovering jet!!), and ten new weapons to unlock. There are reports of users not being able to access the new content despite having purchased it. We suggest contacting EA directly and hanging on for just a bit. Battlelog Update and Improvements - 12
An update is being pushed out for the clunky Battlelog system. A wide variety of improvements are being implemented and will hopefully streamline the sometimes arduous task of finding a server, and God help you, joining with your friends. A statement released on Battlelog highlights server queue, improved server browser, easier server joining with party, a country filter, sharing battle reports, and a new addition to the navigation bar. New Trailer for Back to Karkand - 12
A new trailer for the Back to Karkand expansion has been released, running on the PS3. Today is also the official release day for the expansion on the system. PC and Xbox gamers will have to wait another week (December 13). Those who pre-ordered the game will get it for free, but those who didn't will have to fork over the $14.99. Read more about the release and watch the trailer by clicking the title link.
Major Update for PC - 12
A HUGE update is rolling out for PC tomorrow and will solve an enormous amount of bugs and problems we have all been experiencing. The update will be roughly 2GB in size because much of the Karkand content is being loaded on as well. DICE realizes that forcing everybody to download the content even if they won't be playing it is unreasonable and is quoted saying, "we aim to make potential DLC content in the future as optional downloads." Due to the massive list of tweaks and fixes being made, I highly suggest you click the link above and skim through it. It's likely that at least a few of these are going to affect you.
Iran bans Battlefield - 12
If you have played the campaign, you know that the primary enemy is an Iranian terrorist who stages a coup de tat and seizes control of several nuclear warheads. Unsurprisingly, Iran has banned the sale of Battlefield 3 within its borders. The interesting part is that the game technically can't be sold there, as there are no distributers in the region. However, piracy is a global phenomenon and these illegal copies are now even more illegal in Iran. Interestingly enough, a public petition has reportedly risen out of the country, with supporters saying, "We understand that the story of a videogame is hypothetical... [but] we believe the game is purposely released at a time when the US is pushing the international community into fearing Iran." Read the full story from Guardian.co.uk by following the link above.
