What's new


  • December 2009: My paper "Transmission of TCP Traffic Over User Cooperative Communications in Infrastructure Networks", has been accepted for presentation in the 2010 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference and my paper "Enabling User Cooperation Through Embedded Coding and Awareness of Source Content Dynamics", has been accepted for presentation in the 2010 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing.


  • December 2009: My position paper on "Cooperative Multimedia Communications" is appearing in the December issue of the IEEE ComSoc Multimedia Technical Committee E-Letter.


  • November 2009: I'm the Associate Editor for the special issue on "Signal Processing in Cooperative Cognitive Radio Systems" of the IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Signal Processing (issue to be published in February 2011).


  • November 2009: The book "Cooperative Communications and Networking" that I've co-authored with Dr. Ahmed Sadek (Qualcomm Inc.) and Profs. Ray Liu (University of Maryland) and Weifeng Su (SUNY at Buffalo) was highlighted in the "Campus Spotlight" news section at RIT. There is also a podcast online where I discuss the book (available also from iTunes).


  • September 2009: The book "Cooperative Communications and Networking" that I've co-authored with Dr. Ahmed Sadek (Qualcomm Inc.) and Profs. Ray Liu (University of Maryland) and Weifeng Su (SUNY at Buffalo) has received a nice review from the IEEE Signal Processing Magazine.


  • June 2009: My paper " Asymptotic Distortion Performance of Source-Channel Diversity over Multi-hop and Relay Channels", co-authored with Dr. Karim Seddik and Dr. K. J. Ray Liu has been accepted for publication in the IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing.


  • February 2009: My paper "Content-Aware Cooperative Multiple Access Protocol for Packet Speech Communications", co-authored with Amr El Sherif, Dr. Ahmed Sadek and Dr. K. J. Ray Liu is appearing in the February'09 issue of the IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications.


  • February 2009: The book "Cooperative Communications and Networking" that I've co-authored with Dr. Ahmed Sadek (Qualcomm Inc.) and Profs. Ray Liu (University of Maryland) and Weifeng Su (SUNY at Buffalo) has been published and is now available worldwide (e.g. at Amazon.com). The book is published by Cambridge University Press.


  • February 2009: I'll be serving in the IEEE GLOBECOM 2010 (at Miami) Organizing Committee, as the Publicity Co-Chair.


  • December 2008: The paper "Uplink Channel Estimation in WiMAX", I'm a co-author with Kenneth Ho, has been accepted for presentation in the 2009 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference.


  • October 2008: My paper "Content-Aware Cooperative Multiple Access Protocol for Packet Speech Communications", co-authored with Amr El Sherif, Dr. Ahmed Sadek and Dr. K. J. Ray Liu, has been accepted for publication in the IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications.

  • September 2008: Starting in 2009, I have been named Associate Editor of the InTheSpotlight column of the IEEE Signal Processing Magazine columns and forums section.
