The Playstation 3 will continue building on Sony's idea of free
online play with the new Playstation Network which is, in some ways,
similar to Microsoft's Xbox live. It offers free online gaming,
voice and video chat, along with messaging friends. Sony's Playstation
3 will also be offering downloadable Playstation 3 games and demos,
along with classic Playstation 1(X) games. Also, add on components for
games will be available for download on Sony's Playstation Network.
Instead of using a point system like Microsoft's Xbox 360 or the Nintendo
Wii, Sony's Playstation 3 just use regular American dollars that users will
add to their wallet
to keep things less complicated. The money will
come from credit cards or prepaid gift cards. The Sony Playstation 3 also
will have for download, upgraded firmware to add features to the Sony
Playstation 3 so that there is no need to buy a new system as it gets better,
the same thing that the Playstation Portable does for itself. Later,
Sony will unleash its Home online community where users will create
avatars and have the ability to walk around a virtual community and
talk to other users and play games online among other things. More
details will be given when it is released.
