Sony Playstation 3 Specs

The Sony Playstation 3 is powered by a Cell Broadband Engine. It also has a built in Blu-ray Disc player built into it. Blu-ray Disc are the future in home video with its 50-100GB memory and 1080p High Definition capability. “PLAYSTATION®3 delivers “always-on” online connectivity; offering a world of online possibilities including multiplayer gaming, text and video messaging, voice chatting, downloading content and browsing the internet”(Sony, 2007). The Sony Playstation 3 uses SIXAXIS wireless controllers that can use motion detection and that connect wirelessly using Bluetooth allowing it to range up to twenty meters(sixty-five feet) and are rechargable via usb ports in front of the Playstation 3 system. The Playstation 3 also supports up to seven of the SIXAXIS wireless controllers at the same time. The Sony Playstation 3 has a RSX GPU, 256MB XDR Main RAM 256MB GDDR3 VRAM for memory, 20, 60, and now 80GB HDD, 4 USB 2.0 ports, and 256MB XDR Main RAM 256MB GDDR3 VRAM. For internet communication it uses, Ethernet (10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, 1000BASE-T) and IEEE 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi.

As for the Audio and Visual outputs, Sony's Playstation 3 has one HDMI port, one AV Multi Out, one Digital out, and a Blu-ray/DVD/CD drive “read only”. The Sony Playstation 3's demensions are approximately 325mm (W) x 98mm (H) x 274mm (D) and it weighs about five kilograms.
