Famous Cities

The two famous cities of Laos are

• The World Herutage City: Luang Prabang
• The Capital City: Vientiane

Luang Prabang is a well known UN World Heritage city of Laos for both its beautiful architectures and its natural surrounding. It is located in north area of Laos. It is an old capital of Laos date back to when Laos was still a kingdom (before 1975). Without a doubt it is the most famous tourist destination of Laos for both local and foreigners. Normally, Luang Prabang is a very quiet city but there is a big festival during Lao New Year where people from all over go there.

Vientiane is the capital of Laos. Though it is the busiest city in the country, it is still a quiet capital compares with many other capital cities in Southeast Asia. Vientiane has many beautiful architecture including temples, old houses, and French colonial buildings. Like many other cities of Laos, Vientiane has a very beautiful sunset view at the Mekong river bank which is one of my favorite spot in the city.
