  1. What is the classification of computer generations based on?   Specify one common characteritic from the first generation to the current fourth generation.

  2. What is the main advantage of using an Instruction Set Architecture (ISA) in a computer system from the programmer's point of view and from the CPU designer's point of view?

  3. List five issues that must be fully specified by an ISA.

  4. What are the advantages of load-store GPR ISAs over register-memory GRP ISAs? What are the disadvantages, if any?

  5. List the observations that led to RISC ISA design concepts.  For each observation indicate the resulting RISC ISA characteristic.

  6. Solve the following exercises in the textbook (Computer Organization & Design):

    • Chapter 3 (pages 196-206):
      Exercises: 1, 6, 7, 9, 11, 15, 19 (refer to pages 201-202).
