Faculty in Residence

From 1996 to 1998 I lived 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 12 months a year in the Sol Heumann Residence
Hall on the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) campus. It was a fascinating experience.

I was the fourth faculty member to do this as the centerpiece of RIT's Faculty in Residence (FIR) program, an effort to increase the interaction of faculty and students outside the classroom by having a faculty member live full time in student housing.
